Making the Most of Your Medical Plan

At JELD-WEN, we are committed to providing our associates access to quality health care coverage at a competitive cost. And, we want to make sure you know to get the most out of your medical coverage. The more you know, the easier it is to make smart choices for you and your family.

In this edition, we’re going to help you get the most out of your doctor’s visit and give you tips for saving on prescriptions. Take a few minutes to review the Jump Start Checklist. It’s a great place to start. And this isn’t just for 2018; you can make a habit of doing these things now!

How can I make the most of my doctor’s visit?

Now, we know a trip to the doctor isn’t high on the fun list, but it’s a necessary part of getting and staying healthy. So, do a little planning, ask questions and take advantage of your time with your doctor.

  • Am I taking the right medications for my current conditions? Are they generic?
  • Am I current on all my vaccinations?
  • Am I getting enough sleep?
  • Do I need to make any lifestyle changes?
  • Am I current on my age-appropriate screenings and should I be getting early screenings for any conditions based on my family medical history?
  • When do I need to see you again?

How can I save money at the pharmacy?

We all know a quick trip to the pharmacy can result in a big bill. But, making smart choices, and using the tips and tools we provide can help save you money.

  • You now have a $10 copay for generic drugs, but if you choose to take a brand-name drug, you’ll be responsible for the co-insurance which is more expensive than generic. Keep some money in your pocket and talk to your doctor about generic options.
  • If you take preventive medication, Tria Health, the chronic condition management program, can help you save money. When you engage with Tria Health, certain preventive drugs are covered 100% before the deductible. For a list of preventative drugs included, visit the JELD-WEN benefits portal at www.jeld-wen.bswift.com. You’ll find the list in the Library.
  • It’s also important that you check to see if your pharmacy is in-network. Visit OptumRx.com to get started. Check today to make sure you aren’t spending more than you need to.

Tria Health

The Tria Health chronic condition management program helps you manage your medications associated with chronic health conditions. You will have access to a team of pharmacists who will act as your personal medication experts to make sure your medications are safe, effective and affordable.

How does it work?

Tria Health monitors JELD-WEN’s medical and pharmacy activity. If you are taking medication for a chronic condition, a Tria Health representative will contact you, either by phone or mail, to invite you to engage in the program. When you participate in Tria Health’s chronic condition management program, certain preventive medications you take on an ongoing basis are covered at 100% - no copay or deductible!

How can it help me?

Tria coaches work with you and your doctor to reduce the risk of medication-related problems and to help find lower cost medication options.

When can I start?

You can get engaged with Tria Health as early as December 1, 2017.

For more information, visit triahealth.com, call 888-799-8742, or email them at info@triahealth.com.

What else should I know about paying for medical care or prescriptions?

Your deductible in the new medical plans will be combined, meaning when you spend money for care or prescriptions, that money is going towards one, combined deductible, so there’s a chance you’ll meet your deductible sooner!
